Marshall family, magazine to receive Adirondack awards

Watertown Daily Times
July 11, 2014

The Adirondack Council will name the Marshall family of Saranac Lake its Conservationist of the Year at its annual meeting Saturday in Elizabethtown.

Louis Marshall and his wife, Florence, built Knollwood Club, a great camp on Middle Saranac Lake. Their children were among the founding directors of the Adirondack Council, the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Wilderness Society.

Adirondack Explorer magazine also will be honored as part of the Adirondack Council’s Forever Wild Day celebration. The magazine, which will receive recognition for excellence in journalism and education, issued its first edition in 1998.
