The Adirondack Council held its annual Forever Wild Day celebration on Saturday, July 13, at Heaven Hill Farm in Lake Placid. The Council honored the Northeast Wilderness Trust with our Conservationist of the Year award, and environmental and social activist Benita Law-Diao with our Special Recognition Award.
Here are a few photos of the day, thanks again to everyone who came!
On the left, a hand-carved loon serves as the annual Conservationist of the Year award, and on the right, the framed Carl Heilman photo given to the Special Recognition Award recipient.
Staff and board members of both the Adirondack Council and Northeast Wilderness Trust pose with the hand-carved loon in front of the High Peaks.
Benita Law-Diao, holding the Special Recognition Award, was honored for her decades of social and environmental justice work both in the Adirondacks and beyond.
Thank you to the many people that attended Forever Wild Day!
Most of the Adirondack Council's Next Gen group were able to join us for Forever Wild Day as well!
Congratulations again to Benita and NEWT for their well-deserved awards, and thank you to everyone who joined us at Heaven Hill this year for Forever Wild Day. Special thanks to all of our supporters for making our work possible, and to the sponsors of Forever Wild Day.
We can't wait to see you at next year's Forever Wild Day, where we'll also be celebrating 50 years of Adirondack Council work!
