The Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program (APIPP) documents invasive plant distributions and advances measures to protect and restore native ecosystems in the Park through partnerships with Adirondack residents and institutions. The Center for the Advancement of Sustainable Tourism (CAST) is a comprehensive approach to maximizing community assets, obtaining resources that communities need, and creating a sustainable community tourism initiative. The Intercollegiate Outing Club Association (IOCA) is an organization designed to network and assist outing clubs at schools across the country. The Adirondack Park Agency was created in 1971 by the NY State Legislature to develop long-range land use plans for both public and private lands within the Park. Visit them at: www.apa.state.ny.us

The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is charged with the stewardship of the publicly owned Forest Preserve. The DEC also has regulatory responsibility for point-source pollution control, timber management practices guidance, wildlife management, the Adirondack Sign Law, mining activities, etc. The DEC is divided up into nine regions throughout the state.
